Excerpt: Part of what makes sensemaking difficult in the cross-border shipping and trade data ecosystem is the broad reach of this industry. The evolving nature of the technologies, a dynamic business environment, as well as verticals appearing within verticals. The question I'm always interested in is how are you making the connections for what you do? Products, new market opps, etc. Here's what I mean...

In this week's industry insight, Sal Yazbeck, CEO at ClearAnalysis, focuses on why sensemaking in the cross-border shipping and trade data industry can be a challenge, shares how he approaches generating meaning to it, and offers a helpful way you can apply it at the organizational level.

The cold food chain, the data industry, and a transaction scenario example. In this video, ClearAnalysis CEO, Sal Yazbeck, moves beyond describing a deductive reasoning process to decomplexing the industry, and looks at it through a cargo transaction example.

A point he makes here is that, regardless of the vertical, cargo data is evolving to run throughout the cross-border shipping and trade ecosystem. But gaining a higher level of perspective on the complexity falls back on taking that deductive reasoning approach, and that it begins with a motivation to develop these industry connections.

In this segment, ClearAnalysis CEO, Sal Yazbeck, shares his view that without having first gained a shared industry foundation, and then personalizing it internally on a specific context, it's challenging to arrive at the milestone he shares in this segment - what he calls a Power Perspective. It's the outcome of steps shared in his last videos - what Sal believes is a personalized, informed, opinion level of the industry, and a base towards simplifying decision-making.

In this video segment, ClearAnalysis CEO, Sal Yazbeck, focuses on stage-2 to look at personalizing that baseline knowledge gained from stage-1 (previous video) by applying a specific internal context. A process Sal refers to as gaining Situation Clarity. It’s about answering the question: what does that general industry perspective from stage-1 mean… for your role, and your organization’s goals.

Sal shares three insights on this process:

  • pursuing a gradual context-narrowing approach (on a business related challenge/opportunity),
  • teams exploring context (ie, product design, identifying potential market opportunities) based on a shared foundation, and
  • the benefit of reduced market noise on internal conversations.

It's about 2 minutes.

In an article ClearAnalysis CEO, Sal Yazbeck, wrote back in March, 2026 ("Perspective, The Tech Product Dilemma in a Multi-dimensional Shipping and Trade Ecosytem"), one point differentiated (in contrasting early IoT vendor days) was how industry complexity has evolved as business models have evolved.

It's the idea that operating in a service-oriented environment as we are (ie, we're no longer just selling data collection hardware), the target customer application may have a host of factors that must be delivered on to provide a viable solution. Think, for instance, of the regulated industries (ie, perishable foods). In cross-border shipping and trade, many connecting points to consider on this -- all while the overall industry continues to evolve.

And, so, in this short video, Sal shares an insight on a process that can help de-complex this ecosytem. Stage-1 of two stages on elevating personal perspective. It's based on a simple idea: gaining a shared industry foundation before engaging organizational context. It's around 2 minutes.

In this segment, CEO of ClearAnalysis Consulting Sal Yazbeck shares that gaining industry perspective in the complex cross-border shipping and trade data ecosystem comes in two parts. Briefly, Sal shares what they are, and then a process of transforming them in a way helpful to internal decision-making. It's around 2 minutes.

CEO of ClearAnalysis Consulting Sal Yazbeck will be presenting a short weekly video segment series based on our approach that can help B2B tech product leaders raise industry perspective and develop informed market response strategies. As the data-driven emphasis in the complex cross-border shipping and trade environment continues to evolve, having a path to personalizing what the trends mean for their organization becomes vital - It's all perspective.
